My philosophy of goal setting is... I set a goal for myself to attend Salt Lake Community College and earn a degree in business. I started this goal about 5 years ago, by researching online schools, technical schools, and community college. I made a plan to set aside a specific amount of money from every paycheck. I now feel financially secure and able to put my plan into action. Before making this plan, I would rarely set goals. I went with the flow and did not think about tomorrow. My philosophy of goal setting is that if you don’t set goals, your life stands still and does not change much. If you set SMART goals, the possibilities are endless and your goals are life changing.
Education… Graduate in 2013 with an Associate of Science degree in Business/Business Management. In order to achieve this goal, I have reviewed degree requirements and prerequisites for each class. I have carefully laid out a plan to take skill building courses and prerequisite courses, followed by major course requirements. My goal is 12-15 credits per semester which includes summer semesters. Another educational goal is to maintain a high GPA 3.0-4.0. I will achieve this goal by completing all assignments including extra credit, on time. Using thoroughly thought out answers, planned study time and using all my resources.
Career… Use my AS in Business/Business Management to obtain a career that will provide financial wellbeing and a great work environment. Allow me to use my skills to build and develop a team of trained professionals. That will ensure company growth and an increase in profits. SMART Goals Financial Life… Set aside 15% of earning towards retirement. Retire by age 55, living a long, and happy life. Exercise and a healthy diet as well as smart financial savings are important to achieve this goal.
Community… A philosophy I learned during spring semester is “Pay It Forward”, an idea that is open ended. To give a bit on yourself to someone, doing something nice, something unexpected and without receiving anything in return. My plan for this summer is to get my friends, my family, and my neighbors involved in a charity drive for “The Road Home”. I have a list of basic necessities, things that many people have lying around their home or things that are fairly inexpensive. I have done this in the past with success, because even the smallest donation is helpful. My goal is to talk to my friends, my family and my neighbors and collect items to donate. I will also provide them a list of needed items and ask them to look around there homes as well as talk to their friends and family and get them involved. Then deliver any monetary donations along with the gathered donations to “The Road Home”. I have set a Community goal of $250.00 to donate, in much needed items and I hope to exceed that number.
